The world went all spinny this morning, and my first thought was "Oh shit! The illness, it hasn't gone away!" And it wasn't until some time later that I realised: I have only successfully eaten once since Monday morning. It is now Wednesday. Of course the world will be going all spinny. *facepalm*

*munches on toast with marmite*

But the main point of this entry is: Hi! Rikkai fic exchange! Thoughts so far:

1. Anon fic exchange. Not art, because though I'd kind of like to, I think it's probably one extra headache I could do without for sorting out assignments and so on.

2. 1000 words or over. (I'm sorry - I think a couple of people were interested in something with a lower word limit. Maybe try [livejournal.com profile] drabble_rikkai? There is also [livejournal.com profile] rikkai_shorts, but that does also have a 1000 word lower limit, it just also has a 2000 word upper limit. I think. If I'm reading right. See above regarding lack of food. *g*)

3. This exchange is purely Rikkai-centric. Other schools can make cameos, sure, but it's about Rikkai. So fic in which members of Seigaku appear as side characters is cool, but fic about Sanada/Atobe or Marui/Jirou or whatever other cross-school pairing you can think of is out.

4. I have a comm grabbed - the oh-so-imaginative [livejournal.com profile] rikkai_exchange. I have done nothing to it so far. See poll regarding layout help, because frankly, the things baffle me. If anyone has a copy of the Rikkai logo lurking around on their computer somewhere that'd be shiny and helpful, too, by the way.

I think I should have enough help with actually running the thing. We'll see. XD;

5. Age limit - I'm rather inclined to have one. I know this'll exclude people, yeah, even some people who are really good writers, but those of you who are are perhaps not overly typical for your age and you kind of need a certain amount of maturity to take part in something like this, IMO. I'm not saying you guys don't have it but I'm saying a lot of people your age might not, if you see what I mean, and saying "yes, I'll let you write because I know you and trust you" would be even less fair than blanket exclusion. See poll, anyway. If you find this vastly offensive, just vote and tell me so. I'll still love you. *g*

6. Running times & organisation - I want to open sign-ups fairly soon, close them in May (early/mid), and give out assignments quickly after that. You then have a good clear run of about three months to write, and assignments are due in August. Fic is posted through late August/early September, by myself or one of my partners in crime if I should by some miracle manage to be in Japan at any point around then.

7. Signups will be along much the same lines as other recent PoT exchanges, I think, unless anyone has other especially shiny ideas. If you're not sure what I mean, have a look at the sign-up post for tenifriends as an example of the general setup. Not the specific content of the sign-up form, though.

Poll time.

[Poll #964206]

Add whatever other thoughts you have in comments. I've probably forgotten a million and one things, to be quite honest, because I'm not at my most alert right now. But hey. This post is for further testing of waters, mostly.

There was something else I wasn't going to say (and surprisingly it wasn't "write my tag, woman"), but brain is le fried and thus I have forgotten it.

I think you know what I think on this...

Also, Nationals theme. Just vague, and maybe coincide the finish with the approx Nationals time for handing fics in- ie. August 1? Then start posting later? Or something. Could be fun...

Also, I wonder...if you should imply in the comm somewhere that all spoilers could appear? Just in case people are dumb and only watch anime or whatever, then they email you whining "wah, I didn't know D1 switched!!" and get all huffy...?

Mm yes, that could work. (Yeah. I'll talk more about stuff with you elsewhere, I think. *g*)

Maybe. Although to be quite honest if people are going to do that sort of thing then I have absolutely no sympathy anyway. I do not mind stating this for public record. But yeah, it might be worth a passing mention somewhere, I guess.

*waits for next genius*

(People do it all the time. It makes my head hurt. Worst is when they write for a fandom they have never themselves read the text of canon for. I think thawrecka was talking about it the other day and it got me thinking)

They... wha... people do that? *mind boggles* I mean, I have written for series I have only a partial knowledge of canon for (Saiunkoku. Because I cannot read novels in Japanese... XD;; ) but damn. With no canon knowledge at all? :|

It is true. So long as the cool kids do it, you'd be amazed how friends will follow, just to stay cool.

Another theme could potentially be: Always win, Rikkai Dai.

Winning...therefore...on different levels, included.

And plz have no rating cut off, otherwise I'll be crushed.

:) You make good suggestions.

Hell no. *laughs* You know my feelings on porn. Namely, that there needs to be lots. Especially for D1. ;D

Question, just to make clear something I think you implied, but- pairingwise, it has to be rikkai/rikkai, yes?

None of this Sanatobe stuff. -_-

From: [identity profile] giving-ground.livejournal.com
I'm pretty sure I said that. If I didn't, I really, really meant to. Pairings have to be Rikkai-only, yeah.

I was trying to think of a way to say all of that without sounding like an asshole.

But at least you never actually used the term 'elitist' which still makes me a bigger dickhead than you.

Oh, dear. Sounds like fun~ :D I'd join if I were any good at writing and/or meeting deadlines, but seen as both are a little impossible, I'll settle with being behind you all the way with it! ^__^

It's a pity you won't be including art. :/ Those are always so much fun, especially because you see a lot more art from new faces that you had never expected to be able to draw, or be able to draw so very beautifully. But I entirely agree on the not needing any more complications; I'm amazed at how [livejournal.com profile] reddwarfer managed to deal with all of that the way that she did. n.n;;

As for the age limit, I'm not sure what to say to it. For "legal" reasons, I'd probably say 18+, depending upon the content that can end up in the exchange, but if we're talking about maturity, it's so very difficult to sort between that and age. But I guess 16+ is a decent enough cut-off, if you're going to have one at all.

I'm proficient enough with Photoshop and the like to be able to help with graphics, but I'm also not entirely confident in my skills, so I refrained from clicking "Yes." However, if you need beta-readers or any other help, I'd be more than willing to help. n.n

With regards to themes, it could be helpful, I suppose? Though at the same time, it could be a little too stifling. I kind of like how [livejournal.com profile] their_white_day turned out, with there being the overlying theme of (duh) White Day to the event, but not necessarily applicable to the fanworks submitted. Of course, there were a couple that worked off the theme, and as far as I'm aware, they came out just fine.

Mmmm, brainspew. I think I'm going to bed now. Good luck with everything! :D

I thought about the art thing because I know some amazing stuff can be produced but... yes. I've never done anything like this before so I'd rather keep it, err, relatively simple. *g*

[livejournal.com profile] reposoir mentioned the vague theme of "Nationals", which could work out as a general theme but not something which really places restraints on what can be written. Yeah, just as more of an overall theme. We'll see what other people think and if there are other suggestions. :)

Yeah, echoing what other people have said, I think 16+ is fine for the writing itself, although you may want to go 18+ just to cover your legal bases re: porn.

You may want to include a note when you do the signup form itself about whether name order implies seme/uke order, since apparently that can mean a lot to ... er ... authors who are not me. *g*

And I like the idea of a vague Nationals theme!

Oh, god. *facepalms* I always forget how hung up some people get on that whole seme/uke thing. Mostly because it makes no sense to me. XD

Yeah. Hm.

*considers a bit more* 8D

Sounds like fun~! And it's Rikkai, so of course, much love as well. ♥

For the age limit, I agree that there should be one for the sake of quality. I voted for 16+ (because I don't want to be left out ^^;), even though 18+ would be better for legal reasons.

Can't program layouts or make graphics, but I'll be cheering you on for this! ^o^

Late input, and not very useful, because I agree with the majority of the points settled.
Because of legal purposes, I vote 18+ on age,
Nationals seem a good theme for me,
Yes, you should advertise there will be spoilers.
All about Rikkai!!!
And well, I'll cheer from the sidelines, even when you're giving lots of time to write and it's not a long fic, but I don't want to fail on the deadline but as long as I have web access, I'll cheer for you :D

Themes would exclude a lot of potential participants. I, for one, would not participate if either of [livejournal.com profile] reposoir's suggested themes were used, mainly because they are both too restrictive for me, both implying tennis-related fics. Not to say that those fics aren't welcome, just that some of us write fics that don't explore tennis or any specific sort of tangible theme.
