But somehow I've managed this far

1. I just realised that, what with extensive illness and all that, I never posted photos or writeup for the second half of my trip to Japan this summer. Huh. Oops. I probably can't remember half of it now. Though really it went something like, "We met up with Unni, and then I was ill. We were going to explore Kyoto, but then I got ill so I only saw a tiny bit of it. I got ill on the shinkansen today..." XD; ...despite being hideously ill and having definite pain-related memories of the summer, I still look back on the Japan trip as a really good experience. I'm not entirely sure how. But hey. Good company, new places that I was ill in, and people looking after me above and beyond the call of duty. (Being ill in such a foreign place is frightening, though, and even more so given the Japanese approach to medicine, which I Do Not Approve Of.)

Restless feeling of wanting to go places is kicking in again, but of course that's impossible for now. When I'm in a good enough financial situation my first stop will be northern Europe. I want to visit Unni (again) and Val (for the first time). With a bit of luck one or both of those might even happen some time in 2008, but no-one wants to give me a job so I'm not really holding my breath...

...but this is leading me down the freaking-out-over-life route and I think I'll try to hold off on that until the new year.


2. mirandised:
- Must finish Niou's backstory (AUGH AUGH AUGH AUGH HEAD MEET DESK)
- Hopefully can start to log things for pre_miranda now! We have two lined up already.
- Yukimura = distant_lights. How do you make an icon for 38-year-old sci-fi AU Yukimura? This question has been bothering me ever since I finally got him a journal. *laughs*
- Need to come up with some info on Yukimura's ship. All the stuff which has been produced about Atobe's is making me feel inferior! (See, already the Hyoutei-Rikkai competitive spirit is kicking in. Facepalm. XDD)

3. I feel like I'm on the comedown after making myself write daily in the runup to Christmas. My writing attention-span is in hiding. Ideas are jumping around all over the place. Getting a decent hold on any of them is not happening.


4. Saiyuki friending meme is non-terrifying (compared to Tenipuri ones) but omg. I feel like the youngest person in fandom. *laughs* (Not that the vast majority of my Tenipuri friends aren't older than me.) And despite everyone seeming really nice and friendly I'm still scared of actually saying hello to people. Lame.


5. Can't be bothered to renew extra icon space. Time to figure out which ones I actually really do use. There are plenty I have uploaded that I don't, I guess. I'll do some pruning. (ETA: ...ok, this is more challenging than expected. An icon massacre got me down from 107 to 77. MUST BE STRONG. *laughs*)

Also, that's a good point about the logs. I forgot that the only people who can expand threads easily are paid users, so I was very irritated when the expanding didn't work. So. No threaded comments. Will make a post about that later. :D

...a part of me can't believe I just gave Yukimura a plum blossom icon to tide him over until I can figure out an actual character image. But Yukimura is pointing out that the symbolism of the plum within Chinese culture is entirely appropriate and that there's really nothing wrong with flowers at all. XD;;; Whatever, dude, so long as you're happy.

Also, icons. I hate getting rid of them because most of the time, even if I don't use them often some are there for special situations. XD
