[Exalted] New World

...no, no, there's no point to this at all, really... *eyes the scrap of fic* written in about ten minutes flat. Cryptic? Annoying? Probably. Bad use of required quote? Definitely. Allowing me to just write and post something, even something insubstantial, when everything else is frustrating me? You got it.

Title: New World
Challenge: "The pillars of the world ceased to tremble"
Rating: G
Fandom: Exalted. har har, predictable.
Word count: 294

“We will build a new world,” the man with skin like stone had said, and the man with skin like bark had nodded. The man with skin tinted reddish like flame was silent, but his agreement could be felt. A pale woman whose hair and clothes shifted constantly with the breezes that seemed to follow her gave an absent smile, already looking into the future and seeing the shape of it should they have their way; but she did not look truly happy. The last, blue-skinned with the appearance of a child, frowned. He saw the shape of the past, and hoped that it was truly gone; but he was, on the whole, happy that it appeared to be over.

It was so little time ago that the pillars of the world ceased, once again, to tremble; and it was not yet clear who this world belonged to. The children of the sun were thrown down, for their decadence which had threatened everything, everyone; for pride and foolishness. The children of the moon had grown mad and fled, and already the world began to forget that the children of the stars had ever existed at all.

Perhaps, then, it truly would fall to them. They would build a new would, and it would be better. There would be none of the madness of the last age, and the rulers of the world would stand united.

The pale-skinned woman looked into the future, and saw that they would rule the world, and her smile faltered.

“Creation likes cycles,” she commented quietly, and only the child with blue skin heard her. He nodded, but said nothing.

The children of the sun had built a new world, once, from the ashes of an old one.
