Bleach 111 (Flailing, spoilers, retarded screencap.)

OH OH OH. ISHIDA'S FATHER. AND ICHIGO'S FATHER. I didn't keep myself spoiler free enough to be truly surprised on the second point (and last week I was peering at the ending video going "is that...?") but still, all kinds of awesome to actually see.

I increasingly get the feeling that Kubo Tite really likes parallels and contrasts. It's interesting. Arrancar/Vaizards (from the little fragment I have just seen). Ishida and Ichigo, and their fathers.

This is almost making me want to read the manga more, because the new storyline in the anime is drawing me in very quickly.

And then there was my helpless, juvenile amusement at the comparing of sizes. And. Well. As has been previously demonstrated by Urahara, size is in fact not everything. I still blame Bamba (my A-level English Lit teacher, bless her) and her obsession with swords in Antony & Cleopatra. *coughs*

The drawing is still off though... But I hope that part gets better to the time the arrancar appear.
*wants to hear Suwabe badly*

I didn't notice it to quite the same degree as I did last week, actually, but maybe I was paying less attention to it.. hm.

When Kon is in Ichigo's body, his proportions are way too wrong. Though maybe that's just a comical thing... :D

Oh, oh, oh, if you are not reading the manga you are missing out on so very much. The manga is even cooler than the anime.

So people keep telling me, and I believe it, but I have such a huge pile of computer issues that reading large amounts of manga becomes very frustrating very quickly... :\

(I haven't even read all of the PoT manga, just selected bits. Heh. Rokkaku and Rikkai, and whatever bits people have told me I should read since then. Which includes every Rikkai appearance, because I am a sucker for them, but... yeah.)

KT /loves/ parallels and contrasts. They show up freaking everywhere in this story, and almost no one bothers with all the lovely, lovely plot-clues they gives us about motivations and how people feel about each other. *mourns* A given character will often be used for more than one kind of parallel, too, witness the vast similarities between Ryuuken and Byakuya when it comes to how they deal with their families.

Manga is a must, yes. Even just a few issues at a time. So, so wonderful.

Right.

I'm going to read at least a few chapters a week. It will actually take me forever to catch up, but never mind. I'm getting too curious not to. I think I've read the first volume, maybe the first couple of volumes...

I have no idea what the offical translation is like, actually. I keep toying with the idea of buying some of it, because it's so much easier on my eyes to read paper volumes and so much less time-consuming too. But I really have no idea if it's worth it or not. (And of course it's quite a long way behind, but I could get closer to caught up if I wasn't reading all of it on computer.)

I have yet to pick up any of the official versions either. Over here it's being done by VIZ, which, at least, is usually less egregiously hideous than Tokyopop--but still usually pretty bad. On the other hand, I have to admit, the M7 translation is not the best either. I'd say, on this one, getting the official translation might be worth while; you already know the way these people talk to each other from the anime, and that's been right on all along, including Karin's Ichi-nii pun. Those are the things the manga editors most often muck up.

It'll be VIZ over here too, then. Hmm..

Randomly, the only tokyopop translation I've read has been Saiyuki, which has its oddities, but actually hasn't been that hideous - it makes sense most of the time and, well, it's tended to agree with the scanlations I have most of the time as well, which is generally reassuring if not necessarily indicative of it actually being correct. I've heard pretty awful things about other stuff they've done though.

I might well pick up a volume or two and at least see how it is. Bleach really isn't something I mind throwing money at from time to time, after all.

Bleach is made of so much win!

Damn right. I'm so happy cool stuff is happening again. *__*
