I'm massively jealous of the ability to STOP writing fiction at any time. >_> Obviously because I lack it. XD
I think that the art is really a huge massive portion of the draw of Saiyuki for me. The manga is ... I don't know, I really like it. And I tend to think that 9/10 manga looks more or less EXACTLY THE SAME (this is hyperbole, please do not lynch me XD. I recognize the subtle differences created by authors and artists for various series, but come on. it's like looking at rennaisance art while not really caring just what crazy old dude drew which naked chick on an oyster [yes. I know. Botticelli. Simonetta Vespucci. I kicked ass on those exams.]). There's something in the way that Saiyuki in general moves, is drawn, is written, something that it holds a very lovely little niche down in my heart.
Unfortunately, I am a poor music-addict, and most of my money not spent on bills is not often used to drive twenty miles out of town in search of the book store to buy manga. >__> So I frequently forget my love of the series.
