Have you read "To Say Nothing of the Dog" by Connie Willis? It's sort of sci-fi (pretty soft sci-fi), and it's really witty and hilarious. Or if you like epic fantasy, I just read "The Name of the Wind" by Patrick Rothfuss this summer and thought it was very awesome. Not sure if those are the kinds of things you like, but umm...maybe you will.
