In Tokyo. Rikkaimyu. Life = good.

General holiday update will happen later. For now...
This morning,
yuki_scorpio and I went to see Rikkaimyu.
Here is the short, unspoilery, entirely incoherent version: OMG IT IS THE MOST AWESOME THING EVER AND AND OMG AM A HAPPY D1 FANGIRL AND AND AND SANAYUKI TOO AND RIKKAI ARE AWESOME AND ROKKAKU ARE FUNNY AND I LOVE THEM ALL. And I don`t miss Hyoutei. Not even slightly.
Can I go see it again yet? (We have tickets to go and see the final Tokyo performance on Christmas day. But that means an entire day before I next see it. :O And then I have to survive until the DVD comes out. Which is whole months away...)
The longer, more coherent version... well... I think it`ll take me a while to recover enough to actually be fully coherent, to be honest. The fact that I am in Tokyo, having just seen Rikkaimyu, seems utterly unreal. But here, some thoughts...
I'm really, really, amazingly happy with this myu. Rikkai... of all of them, the only one I'm uncertain about is Renji, and to be honest because of the format (this was only the first half - buildup and doubles matches) he didn't do a great deal - so I don't dislike him, but I'm reserving judgement. Yukimura was actually very pretty and could sing well enough - not spectacularly, but things a few people had said kind of led Pez and me to fear that he would be totally crap. Not so. Sanada was... oh god. Sanada was amazing. Perfect. And he bitchslaps people.
We had a joint moment of "OMG SQUEE" when the Yukimura, Sanada and Yanagi were all standing together during the opening song... *_*
I think Pez is pointing this out in her own entry even as I type this, but Sanada and Yukimura are quite definitely and undeniably having sex. They just are. There's a lot of Moments, and a duet. *grin*
Marui and Jackal were also pretty much nailed, really. :) Really good.
And then... ehehe. D1. Yes.
They switched. Fucking amazing. They were still themselves when they came on stage at the beginning of the D2 match, but part way through Niou vanished offstage, and after a little while Yagyuu stood up and followed himfor sex in the toilets and then a few minutes later they came back... it was actually a little hard to tell the difference at first, though I figured they must've gone to change their hair around and stuff. We were pretty close to the front (seventh row) and yeah, it got more obvious when they were playing, but it was good. Quite a bit of silliness when they switched back, which I loved - involving two Nious on stage at one point :D :D :D and also, briefly, Jackal impersonating Yagyuu. XD For the full extent of the amusement... nah, can't describe it. You'll see. Eventually. >)
Niou was just... *____* Masa can dance so well, and he had the way of speaking down nicely, and. Pretty. So pretty. I am very, very satisfied. There was a lovely bit, too, when they were visiting Yukimura in hospital - Yukimura was sitting on the bed and Niou just jumped onto the bed next to him and started chatting to him, when everyone else was being fairly formal. Loved it.
I can't really hope to list everything I loved about Rikkai, to be honest. There was just so much.
As for Rokkaku... :D I was so happy to see them there as the supporting school. I'd got rather sick of Hyoutei, to be honest - I know they did a great job but I don't like the school much to start with and it was beginning to wear a little thin. Rokkaku were really fresh for me, and a great deal of fun. They were running around in the aisles just before the intermission (collecting whatever kind of shellfish? I forget) generally being silly and it was. so. good. And Saeki and Bane were in the aisle right next to me. >D
Seigaku... look, you don't really expect much about them from me, do you? None of them were total failures. Minami as Tez looks less ludicrously tiny when he's alone on stage. There was a really, really funny sequence of little snippets about them which I did love.
But most of the time I was being rather... ahem... distracted? :D
God, I love Rikkai.
And D1.
And, lately, Rokkaku.
solaas, the Rokkaku photosets are going to kill you. Dead. *bought Dabide's for herself and is... decidedly content with it*

*calms self* I like Kirihara better now after having seen another two performances of it, as well. He's cute and evil. Cutely evil? Something. Good, anyway.

This was an awesome, awesome post. You are lucky, having seen it live.
Have a wonderful Christmas and I hope the rest of the trip is as awesome as seeing Rikkaimyu.

Date: 2006-12-24 11:19 am (UTC)You were very lucky that you flew out on Tuesday. Heathrow has been fog bound ever since with huge delays and lots of very pissed off people waiting days for their flights.
