This is, truly, a series of DOOM. And EPIC MANLY LOVE. And SWIRLY CAPES. And HEADPHONES. Symbolic headphones. Of manly love.
I did mention the manly love, right?
All of this IN SPACE.
It pretty much deserves the random capslock. DRAMA. ANGST. EXPLOSIONS.
...
Let's try again.
Toward the Terra/To Terra/Terra e is a series about humanity's attitude to the world, control versus emotion, prejudice, communication... It features a rather Brave New World-esque computer-controlled human society (erm, yes, insert as many Paranoia jokes here as you like - goodness knows I have been) and the Mu, who are humans with special powers who are feared aren't allowed to exist within society. Earth is broken so everyone lives in space, but they all want Earth back. And stuff like that.
It also features lots ofgay men who cannot stop thinking about each other, swirly capes and headphones. Sometimes even sparkles. It is full of doom. It is not afraid of offing or otherwise breaking characters. There are explosions and guns and men in uniform; surely you know by now how I feel about these things in fiction. It also has one of my favourite antagonists in a while. Even if he does have an awful name.
Melodramatic? Yes. Cheesy? Yes.
Unspeakably enjoyable anyway/because of this? Hell yes.
I have been having fun.
(I will say, it starts pretty slowly and feels a bit more overly simplistic at the outset than it eventually becomes. That's all.)
