The fact that Lynn is updating her cyberpunk AU again makes me want to work on the other stories connected to my old one -- although it's always difficult, because that would require me to re-read the original story, and that's 26k that I wrote years ago and it makes me cringe. (For the record I have a prequel-story and a far-sequel story in various states of incompleteness, but to my shame I don't so far have anything of the immediate sequel that was meant to exist. This is because that story is mostly about Kirihara, and I suck at writing Kirihara. Damn. ...also because it requires closer reference to the main story and yeah, I mean it about the cringing. And the wanting to totally rewrite from the ground up.)

The fact that I've been re-reading Virtual Light doesn't help either.

Can you tell I have a project that I really don't want to work on right now? Yeah.

*laughs* Me, I think I should be appalled because the three earlier chapters of the AU are probably better on the sentence level than the two I've just written! (the thought that I have not improved at all is seriously scary, though it does mean that the voice-shift, though present, is a bit less jarring. The fact that Oshitari has had a personality transplant, we shall not discuss.)
